Spud Webb Now Coaching in Rick’s Basketball Association

Spud Webb has led a charmed life. Deemed “too small” to play at the NBA level, the 5’7″ Webb persevered to become a slam dunk champion. Teaming with Doc Rivers, Dominique Wilkins, and Kevin Willis, Spud played a key role on the elite Atlanta Hawks teams of the 1980′s. He was, in his day, one of the most recognizable and beloved ballplayers in the game. Basketball was his ticket, and Spud Webb cashed in.
Fast Forward to 2011. As the President of Player Development for the NBDL’s Texas Legends, Webb has remained active in the game that made him a legend. He has now stepped out of the executive’s suite to try his hand at coaching. Spud Webb has been named head coach of the Rick’s Cabaret/NYC ladies basketball team of the RBA. This league, consisting of teams of entertainers from Rick’s Cabaret International, Inc. men’s gentleman’s clubs across the United States, begins play in January 2012.
“The girls love Spud,” said New York team member Sky. “We picked him to be coach because he’s such an inspiration to people.”
The New York team is expected to play games shortly against dancers from the Minneapolis Downtown Cabaret and Tootsie’s Cabaret in Miami.
“All the [teams'] players are hot,” said Sky. “But we’re New York, baby! And we’re going to whip their pretty butts.”
For Spud Webb, it appears, the charmed life continues…
