“Fat Albert” to the DL

These are dark days in St. Louis as the Cardinals “all world” first basemen Albert Pujols will be out 4 to 6 weeks with a fracture in his forearm. In what is already one of the closest races in baseball this season, the Cardinals have been hit with what may end up being the most crippling injury any team can face. Still, it is the NL Central, so if the redbirds can just play around .500 until Fat Albert returns…
Pujols, a career .329 hitter, was third in the NL this season with 17 HRs. His loss is just the latest for a Cardinal’s team that has been without Matt Holliday for most of the season. Can the big red machine bounce back? By the time Pujols returns, will they be too far back? Do you think Albert wishes he had signed his his extension this past offseason?
That’s the beauty of baseball…stay tuned
