Miguel Cabrera Wins The Triple Crown

I cant understand why anyone is entertaining Mike Trout as the AL MVP when Miguel Cabrera wins the Triple Crown. With a .330 average, 44 home runs and 139 RBIs, Cabrera became the first player in 45 years to achieve the Triple Crown, leading the American League in all three categories.

Trout’s team also had a better record then the Tigers and is a rookie, but if you take him off that team they may be a 3rd place team but have far less wins. If they take the best 5 teams like they will next year Tigers wouldnt even be in the playoffs. Looking at WAR tells you all you need to know about the year Trout had. The fact is while it is impressive to win the triple crown; 2 of those stats are useless. We know more stat wise to see batting avg is a terrible stat and RBI means nothing.

Trout is good, but he is staring down the Triple Crown winner. It is gonna piss off the stat geeks and their WAR data, but no way does the Cabrera not win it now.

  2. Nah man, take away Trout from the Angels and they’re a 3rd place team. With Trout, they’re a 3rd place team. Down the stretch Miggy carried that team into the playoffs and was a flat out beast doing so. Miggy did have 13 errors, but this was the first year he played at 3rd since God knows when. Give him the MVP.

well because Cabrera doesnt know what to do with a glove. and Trout wins above replacement (WAR) number is much higher. also 2 of the 3 stats for the triple crown are flawed stats RBI and batting AVG which is possibly the worst baseball stat next to wins for pitchers. Cabrera might be this years best hitter but the better player is Trout just because WAR stat acounts for all parts of baseball including defense
